American Pie, Canadian pride

Actor and comedian Eugene Levy and five other distinguished Canadians have been awarded Governor General's Performing Arts Awards for Lifetime Artistic Achievement. The announcement was made yesterday morning at a press conference in Montreal by Governor General Michaelle Jean.

The other recipients included pianist Anton Kuerti, stage director and choreographer Brian Macdonald, playwright John Murrell, documentary filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin and popular singer-songwriter Michel Pagliaro.
